What to Wear While Go-Karting

So you’ve decided to begin the challenge of go-karting! The first step to out-racing your friends and co-workers is to wear the appropriate attire. What do you wear to stay safe and make the most out of this exciting experience? Check out the recommendations below.

Go-Kart Helmets

One of the most important things to wear when go-karting is, of course, a helmet. Our Italian electric go-karts can go up to speeds of 50 mph, and safety is our priority. We provide racers with a full-face helmet and a head sock to wear under it.

If you have long hair, it’s a good idea to bring a hair tie in case you need to tie it back to fit in or under your helmet.

Can You Wear Glasses While Go-Karting?

Yes, you can! You will have to remove them to put on your helmet, then open the visor and slide them on. Make sure they are snug and can’t come loose. It is important that you can see well when you are on the track.

Comfortable Clothing

Both of the Tampa Bay Grand Prix tracks are indoors, so you don’t have to worry about dressing for the weather. However, make sure to wear comfortable clothing you can sit down and stretch in. This could be jeans, joggers or tracksuit bottoms and a simple T-shirt or hoodie. If any clothing is too tight, you won’t be comfortable in the go-kart. If it’s too loose, it could fly around, get caught in something or get in your way.

The adrenaline from racing will make you warm, so if you have on a hoodie, wear something under it.

Also, be aware that your clothing may come in contact with dirt and oil, so don’t wear anything you hold dear.

Closed-Toed Footwear

Appropriate attire includes closed-toed footwear with a flat sole. These can be running shoes, trainers or sneakers — no sandals or high-heeled shoes. This guideline is for the safety of you and others.

Gloves

You may want to have racing gloves, but they aren’t required. Racing gloves will help you keep a good grip on the steering wheel as you breeze by your competition.

What Not to Wear

Don’t wear jewelry, as it may get stuck or come off and be lost. Try not to bring anything that may fall out of your pockets while racing, and make sure everything you bring can be secured. The last thing you want is your phone flying out of the go-kart at 50 mph!
